About SmartWoman
August 13th, 2008Hello! My name is Vicki Flaugher, and I am the founder of SmartWoman Guides. Welcome to our community – I am happy you have come to visit.

Especially if you are 35-55 years old, you are going to love this site because that’s a magic age time. You really discover who you are during those years and finally decide to do what you love instead of just what you’re “supposed” to do. The spirit of that revelation and all the promise it holds is why this site was created.
So, what will you find at SmartWoman Guides?
In short, inspiration, resources, and community!
- You will find a resource directory of female focused and female owned businesses.

- You’ll find interviews & site profiles of outstanding female entrepreneurs (and women friendly male entrepreneurs too)
- You’ll find articles to rejunvenate your soul and your business brain too
- You’ll find blog entries designed to inspire, encourage, and focus you.
This works best if our conversation is two-sided. You are invited to put in your two cents by commenting on the blog posts, or, if you want to, you can contact me directly to be interviewed, have your website featured, or to joint venture with SmartWoman Guides. The door is wide open and you are encouraged to walk through it.
At this point, most people want to know more about me, why I started SmartWoman Guides, and what I am all about. So, here goes!
I am a marketing strategy business consultant and entrepreneur, passionate about empowering the Emerging Woman Entrepreneur–the 35-55 year old female worldwide starting out in business for herself.
Why that group? Because I believe this group of women is the single most powerful group of individuals in the world, with the capability to change and improve the face of society. It is my mission to facilitate their awakening and assist in any way I can to move them forward toward living a passionate life while doing their meaningful work.
As the original SmartWoman, I come from a corporate background in high-tech, sales and internet marketing. I caught the entrepreneur bug back when I was 10 and became the first female “newspaper boy” in the small town of Beeville, Texas.
Why do I call myself SmartWoman?
Read my SmartWoman Manifesto and you will understand more fully. Women rock the world, and especially the small business arena, and we are a force to be reckoned with! Here you are center stage, respected for your amazing talents and abilities. No over the top jargon, guru garble, or high and mighty put downs disguised as education can be found here. Practical how-to in every day language is more the speed at SmartWoman Guides.
What’s my life philosophy?
I am determined to make a life that balances all parts of my personality. Even in my professional life – especially in my professional life – I don’t want to have to check my values and feelings at the door. I like the excitement of a big vision and I am dedicated to living an enriching life and realizing my dreams and the dreams of the people I know. My greatest pleasures come from facilitating the transformation of an idea from quiet thought to touchable actuality. Building bridges between dreams and reality is my passion. And, I love to share that with others and help where I can.
Service plays a big part in my life philosophy. As a committed philanthropist, I have held offices in the Lions Club International service organization, Relay for Life cancer events, and regularly give my time pro bono to hospice, eldercare, holistic healing, art patronage, and other charitable fund raising events.
Fun is also a big part of my life. I enjoy karaoke, good food, nice wine, gardening, and time with my friends.
Email me directly if you have any questions or would like to become involved in a joint venture with SmartWoman Guides.
